Infinity Blooms

The Golden Ratio, the repetitive spiraling pattern that exists everywhere in nature, has always made a huge impression on me. It exists in the galaxies we live in, the clouds circulating over us, the fingerprints on each of our fingers, even to the DNA within our cells. In the past I have employed all of these subjects as my models and now I continue that vision with the floral and botanical world ever blooming around us.

The paintings of this series have been created using hand drawn and painted silkscreens in enamel on wood panel with backgrounds of mixed mediums such as gold and silver leaf, oil, inks and watercolors.

The imagery represented is of flowers in bloom painted in colors and materials not usually chosen to represent the botanical world. By changing the familiar tones we usually associate with these blooms it evolves them, vaulting them up to the heavens or down to the very depths of the sea.

Wallflowers

Several new hanging sculptures were created for Infinity Blooms, a cylindrical work and three new wall works.

Structurally made with high quality aluminum which allows for high durability and extreme flexibility. Each element is hand painted on one side with oil and on the other side burnished oil worked into a sanded and texturized surface, creating two different visual styles yet creating a complimentary flow of abstract imagery with connotations of the wild lushness of the floral and botanical world we live in.

Inspired By

Inspired By is a body of work of both sculptures and paintings where each piece was directly inspired by some of the many artists that have made an impact on me throughout the years. From Frank Stella, Yves Klein and Monet to my mentor of many years Laddie John Dill these artists have given me guidance and motivation throughout my career to keep moving forward and never stop believing in beauty and wonder.

Floating Sculptures

This group of sculptures is a series of pieces I have been developing over the past two decades. Since an early part of my career while working with my mentor Laddie John Dill I realized that I not only truly enjoyed but thrived working in sculpture. Designing and fabricating art alongside Laddie and his crew made working on large scale projects with many different unorthodox materials a lot less intimidating and much more interesting.

Utilizing the elements within my sculpture series; metal, wood, mica and many different raw pigments is incredibly gratifying. I feel each sculpture finds its own personality and is formed as I take it through the many different phases it takes to create the final piece.

From the initial drawing phase to the final installation of the finished elements each sculpture is ever evolving into the final piece the viewers actually encounter at the end.
